๐ฌ Go deeper: How does water climb UP, against gravity? When water evaporates out of the leaves, it pulls the water behind it up the tiny tubes, like sucking juice up a straw. Scientists call these water tubes xylem (say "ZY-lem"). On a hot day a big tree can lift hundreds of litres of water!
